Juicing for Beginners: The Essential Guide to Juicing Recipes for Weight Loss

What is juicing or why should anyone care about it? How is juice going to help me?

All of these are good questions when one stumbles upon the world of juicing.

As a medical professional here is my spell. Juicing is not going to cure anyone’s cancer. It is not a miracle cure for anything NO matter what anyone says.

HOWEVER, it can be an invaluable way to supplement your diet with essential nutrients. The best part is that juicing will only take a few minutes of one’s time every day with the right juicer.

Instead of having to buy vitamin supplements that are costly, we can juice. The vitamin supplements do not have the minerals and vitamins in their natural forms unlike juice. Having vitamins and minerals in their nature form means our body has a much easier time absorbing them.

When it comes to vitamin supplements, we do not absorb most of it! We actually end up urinating most of the vitamins and minerals out.

I do not know about you but I have many responsibilities that take away from my time and my ability to eat correctly. I have work, family, social, and other things that can force me to grab something quick but that should not be an excuse. This attitude of fast & thoughtless eating is causing health problems arcos the globe.

For instance, the U.S Department of Health states that over half of Americans have a chronic disease due to poor diet. These diseases include high blood pressure, diabetes type 2, depression, sleep apnea, and obesity.

If we were to replace just one or two unhealthy snacks or meals with a healthy juice, it would be a step in the right direction. Plus, I can guarantee that you will be feeling much better as well if you keep it for a few weeks.

Juicing should be something to consider if you are serious about losing weight.

Here is How to Get Started Juicing

1) Picking your juicer- There are many options out there when it comes to buying juicers. The biggest thing that separates juicer is whether they are a centrifugal or masticating juicer.

Centrifugal juicers are much cheaper, however they are far less efficient at making juice. Even though these juicers spin a fast a blender, they do a poor job at harvesting the nutrients of the juice.

Masticating juicers are more expensive but do a MUCH better job of extracting the juice. Masticating juicers are the ones I recommend like a Huron or Omega series juicer.

2) Picking your ingredients- When starting juicing, do not go overboard trying to mix eighty different flavors in one juice.

My recommendation would be to start with classic flavor combinations like strawberry-banana, orange-carrot, or blueberry-strawberry. Then after you can incorporate more ingredients to your juice like kale, rhubarb, wheat grass, and even nuts.

3) Storing your juice properly- Make sure you are storing your juice in a sealed container in your fridge when you are done making it. If not then your juice is going to waste!

This is not the juice you buy from the produce isle in your store, this is REAL juice not that manufactured crap. Juice in the supermarkets is filled with the preservatives that make it have a longer shelf life.

Fresh juice is subject to oxidation that will make it taste bland and cause it to lose a lot of the valuable nutrients.

4) Clean your juicer when done- Juicers can get dirty quickly. To preserve the life of your machine, you need to disassemble and clean it after every use. Also bacteria are likely to grow if there is gunk inside the machine.

How is the Best Way to Use Juice to Lose Weight?

All you have to do is drink juice and the pounds will fall off…. That’s all, right?

Noooooooooooo, this is one of the lies that you may be feed from infomercials or “health gurus” that are promoting their products. We are not afraid to tell the truth.

Losing weight is all about calories. Let me make this simple, if you burn more calories than you eat then you are losing weight.

Here are two ways to lose weight

  • Burn more calories- hit the gym, take a run, or take the stairs more
  • Eat fewer calories- Take out the sugary drinks or stop eating out at restaurants

There are 3,500 calories in one pound. If you cut 500 calories a day and burn an extra 200 during your day. You will lose a pound every five days IF you can maintain your discipline (which is the hardest part in my opinion).

Which is the best way to lose weight, 1 or 2?

The answer is both. I would say that losing weight is 70% diet and 30% exercise with diet definitely being the deterring factor.

If you are shoveling burgers into your mouth all day, how can you burn excess calories?

To help reduce your calories use juice!

Take out two unhealthy snacks or a sugary drink and replace it with a fresh nutritious juice.

There is no nutritional value in most commercial snacks and beverages, so they are a source of EMPTY calories. There are no vitamins in Coca- Cola and no minerals in gummi bears.
